Information and Resource Centre for the Deprived Urban Communities (IRCDUC) is a platform to enhance the capacities of communities, facilitate community-led initiatives, disseminate information about laws and policies, and undertake policy research related to land and housing rights of the deprived urban communities.
LegalEase has assisted IRCDUC with policy research on slum upgradation, amendment proposals to Tamil Nadu Slum Areas (Improvement and Clearance) Act, 1971, and representation to World Bank, which is financing the slum upgradation project, with suggestions on slum upgradation.
Child Help Foundation focuses on the well-being of children and takes care of education, health, food, and shelter. Additionally, the Foundation interacts with different medical specialty departments of various hospital partners on a regular basis to track down updates on underprivileged children who need emergency medical treatment. They try their best to get a solution for these issues by raising funds through sources like Online Fund Raising Campaigns, Tele-calling Teams, and Media Advertisements. The support continues through the recuperation stage as well and they take regular updates about the patient’s medical status along with the family’s status.
LegalEase had the opportunity to provide research memos on child rights to the Child Help Foundation and answered a question related to taxation for their US office.
Mental Health Foundation Aid in India (MHFA) offers programs and training courses that teach mental health first aid skills to members of the public and prepare instructors who are trained and accredited individuals to deliver MHFA courses to communities and workplaces across the country. The concept of MHFA is that people should be taught on how to perform basic ‘first aid’ for those showing signs of mental health distress, just as they are commonly taught first aid for physical conditions.
LegalEase worked with MHFA to prepare a research memo on the Legal framework of Mental Health at Workplace in India which was later published by MHFA as an online training resource.
